Since the year 2000, the top 6 and 7-year-old eventing horses have competed in Le Lion d’Angers, France for the title of World Champion of young eventing horses.
As with the disciplines of jumping and dressage, these Championships put a spotlight on the connection between breeding and the sport. The choices made by breeders at the time of covering their mares have influenced the steady rise in the level of the sport. Many horses that competed successfully in Le Lion d’Angers have gone on to excel in the international arena, a trend which is also seen in the World Breeding Championships of the other two disciplines.
The 2024 Championships are scheduled to take place from the 17th to 20th October 2024.

The World Breeding Championships for Young Horses (WBCYH) in the three Olympic disciplines (dressage, jumping & eventing)
The 2022 championships are scheduled to take place from 8th to 11th September 2022 in Ermelo, Netherlands.
The 2022 championships are scheduled to take place from 22nd -25th September 2022 in Lanaken, Belgium.
